Directions from Alicante Airport to
our house in Bolnuevo
Our address is:-
Calle Alisio No 3, Marina
De Bolnuevo
30877
There are basically three ways to get to Bolnuevo:-
1. Motorway all the way E15/A7 (64km) towards Murcia, then M602 (5km), then M603 (22km). This route is certainly the quickest although not so interesting.
2. Motorway down as far as Cartagena then N332 to Bolnuevo or …
3. Motorway down as far as Cartagena then E22 to Bolnuevo – more interesting over the mountains between Cartagena & Bolnuevo, (a few sharp bends in parts though, not worth doing at night)
If travelling at night, it’s probably best to take option 1, the Motorway.
Option 1 Motorway for most of the way (Preferred route)
When leaving the airport car park, there is then an immediate three-way split in the road. Left takes you back to the terminal buildings again. Right takes you towards the coast and Alicante. You take the centre lane going straight on over the top of the main road. As you swing left down towards the motorway it is signposted Valencia/Murcia (Cartagena/Torrevieja). Follow these signs and STAY ON THE MAIN ROAD - do not get in the slip road to the right or you will get shunted off. This road will lead you on to the E15/A7 motorway.
Stay on the E15/A7 for about 64km, towards Murcia.
(Spanish motorways are strange; junction 84 is the last one where they have sequential Junction numbers. After that the junctions are numbered by how many kilometres you are from the end of the road.)
The motorway bye passes Murcia itself. As you get near Murcia the signs will direct you towards Alcantarilla, Granada, Almeria still on the A7/E15 motorway, stay on this road for a further 31km.
Junction 627 (Alhama de Murcia), splits into 3 exits, all within a few hundred
metres, you need the third exit, 627B, signpost MU602 Mazarron. Go *under*
the bridge then slip hard right (Junction 627B). You swing all the way round
and up onto the road above. After 5km, turn right at the next large traffic
island on to the MU603, signpost Mazarron. (This is a fairly small sign so
don’t miss it). Stay on the MU603 for 22km.
Keep on the dual carriage way, passing the Camposol town complex. This is
called the Mazarron bye-pass.
At the far end of the Mazarron by-pass there is a big roundabout. Turn left.
The next roundabout is the one with an old caterpillar tractor in the middle.
Take the first exit, signposted Bolnuevo.
The next roundabout with the Sails sculpture in the middle is at the entrance to Bolnuevo, take the first exit to Bolnuevo. After 15 metres, turn sharp right into the Marina de Bolnuevo development. After another 15 metres, turn left, and keeping left, follow the road round into Calle Alisio – our house is number 3 – you made it!!
Option 2 Motorway (Toll Road) to Cartagena
then N332 to Bolnuevo
When leaving the airport car park, stay in the middle lane, which shows the sign Valencia/Murcia (Cartagena/Torrevieja). As you bend round to the left, move over to the right hand lane, which slips onto another road. Once on that road, DO NOT come off, it will lead you on to the correct motorway, the A7. (also shown as A70 and E15).
After about 25km the A7 motorway splits into two, you need to take the road on the right A37, the sign will say Cartagena/Torrevieja (A37)
Stay on the A37 motorway until the very end, (at Cartagena). The A37 takes you through two tolls, don’t forget to have some change ready (between 1.50 euros and 2.5 euros, depending on the season).
The A37 motorway leads into a dual carriage way at Cartagena, follow the dual carriage way until you come to a large island, in the centre of Cartagena town. At that island, take the first exit, immediately past the Plaza de Espana parking.
After the 5th set of traffic lights, (including the pedestrian crossings), you will come to an island with a large shield monument in the centre and a Video drug store on the opposite side. Turn left here, (second exit), signpost Mazarron ………..
You can Go to Option 3 at this point
if you so wish, or continue with this route
Option 2 continued ….
Carry on this dual carriage way, straight over the first island towards Mazarron.
At the next traffic lights, turn right, signpost Mazarron N332. Stay on this
road for about 15km until you get near Puerto de Mazarron and come to a large
island with a boat in the centre. Take the first exit, towards Mazarron, (this
is the bypass around Puerto de Mazarron).
After about 1km, turn left, towards Puerto de Mazarron and go down into the town. Stay on this road through the town as it follows the coast line to Bolnuevo. Straight on at the next island, then after another 1.5km, you will come to a gradual bridge over a causeway. Come down to the island, (it has a metal sculpture on it), and take the 2nd exit to Bolnuevo town.
After 20 metres turn sharp right into the Marina de Bolnuevo development. After another 15 metres, turn left and follow the road round into Calle Alisio – our house is number 3 – you made it!!
Option 3 Motorway to Cartagena and
E22 to Bolnuevo over the mountains
Use the first part of Option 2
Carry on this dual carriage way, straight over the first island towards Mazarron, over the traffic lights and up to the second roundabout, Turn right here on to the E22, signpost Mazarron. This road takes you through a little village called Las Canteras and up over the mountains, (not that high!).
Once over the mountains, carry on the same road until you come to a T junction.
Turn left, signpost Mazarron. After about 2km you will come to a large island
with a boat in the centre. Take the first exit, towards Mazarron, (this is
the bypass around Puerto de Mazarron).
After about 1km, turn left, at the next roundabout, (with two galleon ships
in the middle), towards Puerto de Mazarron and go down into the town. Stay
on this road through the town as it follows the coast line to Bolnuevo about
4km away. Just before you get to Bolnuevo you will come to a gradual bridge
over a causeway. Come down to the island, (it has a metal sculpture of sails
on it), and take the 2nd exit to Bolnuevo town.
After 20 metres turn sharp right into the Marina de Bolnuevo development. After another 15 metres, turn left and follow the road round into Calle Alisio – our house is number 3 – you made it!!
